Royal Caribbean Ships to Get 3D Movie Theaters

Royal Caribbean is jumping aboard the 3D movie craze, announcing today that it’ll add 3D screens to several ships.

Glasses-free 3DTV Demonstrated

NewSight Japan demonstrated a new 70-inch glasses-free 3DTV at Japan Finetech last week. The display is said to use “parallax-barrier technology” that renders viewable 3D images without glasses.

C3D World Spring 2010

At the 5th China International 3D World Forum & Exhibition in Shenzhen, China, I presented “3D Decoding and 3D Output Considerations for Set-top Boxes and Blu-ray Players.” Sigma Designs was a sponsor this time, since the turnout was so great when I presented at the Fall 2009 show (~250 attendees each time). Lots of work being done on 3DTV in China.

South Korea’s KT, LGT, SK Broadband Join 3DTV Push

South Korea’s major IPTV service providers plan to ride on the current 3DTV boom by launching 3D services in the latter half of this year, following plans by the terrestrial, cable, and satellite providers to start 3D services on a trial basis.
