HDI Dune company will show its new versions of hybrid Blu-ray/HD media players at IFA 2009 and CEDIA Expo 2009. Scheduled for release in November 2009 at a price of €799. Brochure is available here. According to today’s Warren Communications News, Panaonic’s Viera Cast-enabled Blu-ray players will support streaming of Amazon On Demand. Macrovision rebranded itself as “Rovi”, focusing not only on content protection, but also a new media guide for HDTVs and Blu-ray players called “Liquid”, which has three main parts: a TV content guide, broadband content guide and personal content guide. The TV guide will provide comprehensive information on consumers’ broadcast/cable channel programming. The broadband guide will direct users to diverse Web-based offerings, including movies, music and social networking activities. The personal content guide will enable consumers to customize their experience, as well as organize photos and home videos for home theater viewing. After people use Liquid repeatedly, it will learn what programming most interests them and highlight options accordingly. Liquid also creates a distinct profile for each user so different family members can tailor their programming for personal tastes.
Paramount Home Entertainment and Universal Home Entertainment announced plans on how they will merge Blu-ray releases with the mobile phone. Users will have the ability to download exclusive content, use their phone as a remote control, control movie-specific features (such as the “Virtual Car Garage” feature in “Fast & Furious”), and view detailed information about the film and its stars in real time. |
